Assisting global superstar, Shawn Mendes with world tour impacts.
Shawn Mendes, a globally renowned artist, has just embarked on his 5th world tour. With increasing levels of awareness and scrutiny on the environmental impact of live entertainment, the Shawn Mendes team approached us to better understand their touring impact and make changes ahead of Wonder: The World Tour (WTWT) in 2022. The team was committed to integrating sustainability into their touring model, including emission reduction strategies and exploring credible offsets.
We collated data from The Tour (2019) to establish a touring carbon footprint to use as a baseline. We then modelled the carbon footprint for WTWT and provided insights and advice on actionable sustainability initiatives. After WTWT was cut short, actual post-tour data was assessed to compare against the previous tour baseline and modelled emissions.
Role: Tour Assessment and Advisory Support.
Objective: To assess and compare the carbon footprint of The Tour (2019), provide sustainability advisory support and recommendations to reduce emissions, and then assess emissions and track progress from Wonder: The World Tour (2022).

Conducted across both world tours, analysing emissions across key tour-related activities.
Modelled WTWT estimated emissions pre-tour to guide strategic sustainability initiatives and emission reduction opportunities.

Through our partnership, Shawn Mendes’ team gained a deeper understanding of their carbon footprint and took tangible steps towards a lower impact touring model through embedding sustainable practices into planning and decision making.
By tracking progress between tours and implementing measures to reduce impacts, they demonstrated leadership in promoting more sustainable live events. This work has set a foundation for continuing to prioritise sustainability in future tours.
